Teen Girl Morning Routine for Summer Starting at 9AM

Teen Girl Morning Routine for Summer Starting at 9AM

Something I’ve noticed over the years is that sleeping in during the summer can be nice, but there’s nothing worse than realizing you slept through your whole morning.

You wake up at noon, check your phone for hours, and then it’s already lunchtime, you haven’t accomplished anything and feel bad for it.

That’s where a morning routine comes in handy. Something as simple as waking up at the same time every day and following a few set morning habits can make all the difference.

The key is to keep it SIMPLE and realistic. You’re not in school, so you don’t need crazy mornings filled with activities from the second you wake up.

Here’s a basic morning routine that you can do every day of summer. Starting at 9AM gives you plenty of time to sleep in, but not so much that your whole day is gone.

Follow this easy morning routine every day and watch how your mornings (and time management) improve over time.

1. 9:00AM – Wake Up and Stay Off Your Phone

The first decision you make each morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. When your alarm goes off at 9AM, make sure your first activity is to get out of bed.

Once you’re up, try your best to resist the urge to jump straight to your phone. During summer, one of the worst habits you can build is checking your phone right when you wake up.

You’ll immediately fall into opening messages, browsing social media, and scrolling for hours until you realize it’s already lunchtime.

Instead, spend at least the first 10–15 minutes of your morning away from your phone. Not only will this help wake you up, but it also forces you to be more intentional with the rest of your morning.

2. 9:10AM – Freshen Up & Tackle Your Normal Skincare Routine

Right when you get up, go into the bathroom and start your normal hygiene routine. Shower, brush your teeth, wash your face. Nothing crazy.

If you have a normal skincare routine, by all means follow it. But there’s no need to go over the top. Simple things like washing your face with cleanser, brushing your teeth, and taking a shower will do the trick.

Remember: this isn’t a time to stress. You’re relaxing during summer. Start your mornings with simple tasks that wake you up and make you feel clean and refreshed.

3. 9:30AM – Stretch / Do a Light Workout

Don’t feel the need to go crazy with working out right when you wake up. That said, doing some sort of movement is always a good idea.

Do you have any stretching routines? Maybe take a yoga class. Or just dance around your living room for 10–15 minutes to your favorite music.

Any sort of movement to start your day is better than none. It gets your blood flowing and helps you feel less “blah” after sleeping in.

4. 9:45AM – Eat Breakfast

This is another item that can be as simple as you want. Eggs and toast? Cereal with fruit? Yogurt with granola? Smoothie? Whatever you feel like making that will keep you full.

Never underestimate the power of breakfast. It can be easy to skip this meal during the summer, but you’ll notice a huge difference in energy and mood when you do eat something.

Think of breakfast as the fuel you’ll need to take on the day, even if that day just involves relaxing.

5. 10:15AM – Have a Loose Plan for the Day

You may not have anywhere you “have” to be during summer, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan your day.

Take a couple minutes to think about how you want your day to go. Don’t feel the need to write down a strict schedule. Simply list 2 or 3 things you’d like to do that day.

Do you want to read a book? Clean your room? Learn something new? Meet up with friends?

If you don’t give your day some sort of structure, it’s easy to drift through the entire day without getting anything done. Then you’ll spend your night thinking about how you didn’t do anything meaningful.

Giving your day intention helps prevent that feeling.

6. 10:30AM – Personal Time (Read a Book / Learn a New Skill)

This block of time is yours to do whatever you want. It can include part of the previous step, but ideally you’ll use this time for something productive.

Read a book? Watch something on Netflix you’ll actually learn from? Practice an instrument? Learn a new language?

Remember: there’s no such thing as wasted time when you’re expanding your knowledge and building new skills.

7. 11:30AM – Clean Up Your Room a Little

Your environment impacts you more than you realize. Take 10–15 minutes and clean up your room.

Make your bed, put your clothes away, throw out any trash. You don’t have to deep clean your room from top to bottom. That would take the whole afternoon.

Spending just a few minutes tidying up will make your room feel lighter, and your mind will feel clearer too.

8. 12:00PM – Get Ready to Do Whatever You Want

Congratulations! You finished your morning routine and are now ready to take on the rest of your day.

Go out with friends. Study. Watch TV all day. Hang out in your backyard. Spend time with family.

Now that you’ve gone through your morning routine, you can do whatever you want for the rest of your day knowing you already took care of yourself first.

Conclusion

Morning routines are powerful because they allow you to SHOW UP for your day instead of rushing through the morning and trying to play catch up later.

Building positive habits and starting your day with intention sets you up for success no matter what you plan on doing.

As you get older, you’ll find that your morning routine often shapes most of your day.

Have fun this summer and keep your mornings simple.
