Resetting your life allows you to become more open to new experiences, new ideas, and new opportunities. Life resetting is an action that you have to take; it allows you to look back at your life and identify what is and isn’t working for you and take steps to align your life with your values.

The world can be overwhelming at times; you may feel stuck doing the same things every day or lose interest in the things you used to enjoy. Life resetting allows you to clear your mind and focus on the things you value. It allows you to be more mindful of yourself and your surroundings, which can help you find the things you enjoy again.

How to Reset & Recharge Your Life

1. Take Inventory of Where You Are Now

The first step to resetting your life is understanding where you currently stand. Sit down and take inventory of every aspect of your life. Where you are now with your career? What are you working towards? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What about your relationships? Take note of what’s working for you and what isn’t.

Career

Ask yourself if you enjoy your job or if your job just pays the bills. Perhaps you could use a career change that allows you to follow your passion. Write down how you feel about your job. How long have you been working there? What skills have you gained? What relationships have you built with your coworkers? All these things can affect your everyday life.

Relationships

Now think about your relationships. Whether it be with friends, family, or significant others. Are your relationships healthy and fulfilling? Or do they stress you out and make you feel worse? Do you make your relationships a priority? All relationships should make you happy! Write down which relationships are positive and which may be negative in your life.

2. Create Smart Goals

Specific- Instead of saying you want to eat healthier you should say what you want to eat. For example, I will cut junk food from my diet.

Measurable- If you can measure it you can see how far you’ve come. With the previous example, you can keep track of how many times you ate junk food in a week.

Attainable- Your goals need to be obtainable. You shouldn’t set your goal to run a marathon in two months if you’re not use to working out. You should start small when beginning your fitness journey.

Relevant- Will this goal help you in your life? Don’t waste your time on goals that do not benefit you or your future. You only live once so try to focus on goals that you’ll enjoy and will help you further you in life.

Time-based- Always have a time frame when thinking of goals you’d like to achieve. This will allow you to have a sense of urgency. If you want to eat less junk food you could make your goal, I will stop eating junk food for the next month.

Ask yourself these questions when creating goals for yourself. By creating SMART goals, you will have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish. Goals aren’t just dreams, they can be achievable!

  • Wake up at the same time every morning. You want your body to get use to waking up at the same time every day so you can wake up feeling refreshed.
  • Once you wake up, drink a glass of water. Not only will this hydrate you after hours of sleep but it will jump start your metabolism.
  • Follow your glass of water up with some sort of workout. You can do some stretching or go for a full-blown workout. Exercising in the morning will pump you up and release happy hormones.
  • After you’ve got your body moving you can clear your head. Meditate, journal, or even think about your goals for the day. Take 5 minutes to yourself to clear your mind and you’ll be more focused for the rest of the day.
  • For your last step, you can write out your to-do list for the day. You can write down what you need to get done that day and what your main priorities are. This will allow you to have a map for your day and allow you to be productive.

Follow these steps and you’ll be starting your morning right!

5. Learn Something New

One of the best ways to step out of your comfort zone is by learning something new. You could pick up a new hobby that you’ve always wanted to try. Learning something new will make you feel accomplished and boost your self-esteem. Maybe you can learn something that can benefit you not only personally but professionally as well.

When you keep your mind stimulated by learning you can increase your creativity. Your brain makes new connections when learning something new. You’ll notice that you will become more creative while doing your daily tasks.

Learn something new and watch your confidence grow! Not only will you feel stronger by learning a new hobby but you will feel like you can accomplish anything. By learning something new you open up the opportunities to learn more new things!

6. Spend time with Positive People

Surround yourself with friends and family that will support you through your life reset. You may not notice it but the people you surround yourself with can affect your everyday life. If you’re constantly surrounded by negative people it’ll be hard for you to stay positive.

Take a look around you and see who you spend the most time with that truly uplifts you. If you’re feeling drained every time you hang out with your friends, then it may be time to evaluate that relationship.

Once you find these positive people in your life you want to maintain those relationships. You can do this by checking up on your friends and family. Ask them how their day was and tell them about your day. You want to have a back and forth conversation with the people you care about.

You can also spend more time with your loved ones by doing activities that you both enjoy. Go on a coffee date with your best friend, go on a hike with your siblings, or watch a movie with your parents. When you spend more time with people that you care about you’re creating memories that will last a lifetime.

If you don’t have any friends that make you feel positive, then go out and make new friends! You can take classes or go to workshops to meet new people. Not only will you be meeting new people but you’ll also learn something new.

Use social media to your advantage as well. Follow people that inspire you and spread positivity. You’ll be surprised by how many friendships you can make through social media.

7. Be Thankful and Have a Positive Mindset

If you want to reset your life before March you should practice being grateful. Having a grateful mindset and thinking positively can help change your entire mindset. These are two things that you should practice daily to better your emotional wellness.

Take 2-3 minutes to think about the things you are grateful for that day. Instead of thinking of all the bad things that happened to you, think about all the good things. No day is going to be perfect but you can always find things to be thankful for even on your worst days.

You can practice gratitude by keeping a gratitude journal. Write down 3 things you’re grateful for at the end of every day. Maybe you could thank yourself for doing something that you don’t normally do. By writing down things that you’re grateful for you’ll start to change your mindset.

Not only should you practice being grateful but you should also practice positive affirmations. You can come up with your own positive affirmations that benefit you. “I am strong enough to get through anything” or “I attract positivity into my life.”

Say these affirmations to yourself every morning in the mirror. You’ll be starting your day with a positive mindset and you’ll have an easier day.

8. Track Your Progress

Always look back at where you started and track your progress. This will allow you to see how far you’ve come and what you need to improve on. When you want to reset your life you should create goals that you’d like to achieve.

Your goals can be about anything you want to improve on. Maybe you want to become healthier? Or better your social skills? No matter what your goals are always track your progress.

You can keep a journal or use an app to track your progress. Write down how you’re feeling that day or every week. By looking back at your notes you’ll be reminded that you are always capable of growing.

Your progress will not look like a straight line going up. Your graph will look like a bunch of ups and downs. But that’s because life isn’t perfect and you’re learning how to better yourself.

Stay Flexible

Always stay flexible when trying to better yourself. Life is going to throw you obstacles that will try to steer you away from your goals. You should expect that things will go wrong but that’s why you need to stay flexible.

Perhaps you got bored of your workout routine and you’re not seeing the results you want. Change your workout routine and try something new that you’ll enjoy more.

Changing your mindset may be hard but it’ll be worth it in the long run when you notice yourself growing as a person.
