5 Daily Habits That Completely Transformed My Life

Let me start off by saying that I hit a wall in my life. I felt as though I was not moving forward or growing. I sat down and reflected on what I could do differently, and that’s when I realized I needed to establish some sort of routine.

Since that day, I have learned the power that daily habits have on your emotional wellbeing, productivity, and happiness.

I began by slowly adding in these five daily habits that you will learn about. Each habit had a powerful impact on my life, but when combined they created an eruption of positive change.

5 Daily Habits That Can Transform Your Life

Habit 1: Meditate

Meditation has changed my life. Before I started meditating, I thought it was a waste of time. After trying it, I noticed how much my mornings began to flourish.

If you start your morning by just sitting with your thoughts, you will notice you are more mindful and present. Not only that, but you’ll feel less stressed out and more focused.

By meditating every morning, you are allowing yourself to just sit with your thoughts, clear your head, and truly understand what you are feeling in the moment. Take this time to not react to your thoughts.

When I meditate in the morning, I feel like I am able to tackle whatever is thrown at me that day. Instead of running on auto-pilot and trying to rush through the day, I actually enjoy my mornings.

Try spending 5 minutes every morning meditating. You can either clear your mind or use this time to focus on your goals for the day. If you’re interested in learning more about meditation, click here.

Habit 2: Journal

Journaling is my favorite thing to do on a daily basis. Not only has it helped me grow so much as a person, but it also helps me clear my mind.

Journaling can help you in more ways than one. If you start each morning by journaling, you will feel more fulfilled and happy.

One thing I love to do is write in a gratitude journal. I write down at least 5 things that I am grateful for every day. By doing this, you rewire your brain to look for the positive things in your life.

Let’s say something bad happens that you are upset about. You can always flip back through your journal to see all the good things that you have!

Journaling allows me to reflect on my day and clear my mind. Not only that, but it helps me realize how I can improve my life.

Habit 3: Get moving

I can’t stress this enough. If you want to change your life, you need to commit to bettering your mental and physical health by exercising.

First, you need to find an exercise or workouts that you like. I love to mix up my workouts by doing a combination of jogging, biking, and circuit training.

Once you find an exercise that you like, you need to commit to at least 30 minutes per day. Make this a non-negotiable part of your day.

Not only will you feel more energized by moving every day, but you’ll also feel happier. I used to think that by exercising I would be tired. I was wrong.

After you work out, your body gets pumped and you will have more energy than you’ve ever had. You will also feel less stressed and anxious, as exercising releases endorphins.

If you have a busy life, try scheduling your workouts as you would any other appointment. Block off that time on your calendar so you know you have to move that day.

Habit 4: Eat Mindfully

Mindful eating means being present when you eat. When I started practicing mindfulness, this changed my life when it came to food.

I used to eat mindlessly, which was not good for my health. As I began to practice mindfulness, I noticed I had way more energy.

I started by being conscious of when I was hungry or not. I would wait to eat until I was hungry, rather than snacking all day long.

Once I was actually hungry, I would choose a healthy meal rather than grabbing random snacks throughout the day.

Another thing I began to do was truly enjoy my food. Take the time to chew your food and enjoy the texture and taste.

Once you try eating your food slowly, you will begin to enjoy it so much more. By eating mindfully, I was able to choose healthier options.

Here are a few tips to get you started with mindful habits.

– Turn off the TV and put your phone away while eating.
– Eat slowly and take smaller bites.
– Set an intention when you eat (remind yourself why eating is important).

Try these tips above and watch how you will have more energy by eating healthy.

Habit 5: Go technology-free

With all the technology we use daily, I decided it was time to take a break from my phone. Our society runs off of technology, and I was no different.

Once I took a step back from my phone, I noticed I was way happier and had a better relationship with my family.

The first thing I did was figure out how much technology I was currently using. I would spend way too much time on social media and emails.

From there, I decided to create times and places where I will not use any technology. For example, I will not be on my phone when eating or right before bed.

I also try to unplug every weekend. During this time, I allow myself to be present and practice mindfulness. I read, take walks, and hang out with my friends and family.

Not only will you be less distracted by technology, but you will also feel less anxious. After about a week of going technology free, I noticed my anxiety levels went down.

Take a step back and see how technology affects your life. I bet if you reduce the time you spend on your phone, you will be happier.

Combine these habits together

If you decided to try one or all of these habits, I encourage you to focus on one habit at a time. Once you feel you have that habit down, start mixing them!

I started doing each of these habits separately, but once I combined them, I realized how they all work together.

Pairing habits such as exercising and practicing mindfulness really allowed me to flourish. Not only will your mental health improve by exercising, but you’ll find it easier to be mindful because you’re happy.

Another combination I loved was eating healthy since I was now exercising.

I noticed I had more energy when I started eating healthier and exercising. When you eat healthier, you will have more energy to be present.

Last, I loved learning something new and journaling. When I learned something new, I would journal about it and reflect on how I could improve my life by using these tips.

All these habits really did transform my life when I started combining them. Try combining each habit and watch how much better your life will become.

My struggles

Building good habits is not easy. When I first decided I wanted to better my life, I ran into some struggles.

I thought I could change everything about my daily routine overnight, and I soon gave up. I also struggled with spreading myself too thin.

When you try to focus on too many things, you may feel overwhelmed and anxious. I even questioned if I was good enough to change my life.

I quickly learned that I not only had to change how I manage my time, but I also had to heal from my mental struggles.

Be patient with yourself

I had to remind myself that change takes time. I didn’t become healthy overnight. I started by changing one habit each week.

Once I was able to change one thing at a time, I built upon that habit. Changing your life takes time, so be patient with yourself.
